The Causes And Effects Of Cerebral Palsy In Young Children
Ahmed Alrowayeh, Bader Alqabbaj
Abstract: This paper examines the primary causes and effects of cerebral palsy (CP) in young children, focusing on perinatal stroke, thyroid disease, and complications from meconium and asphyxia. Perinatal strokes, particularly ischemic and hemorrhagic, are identified as leading contributors to CP, often resulting in significant lifelong impairments such as cognitive challenges and epilepsy. Thyroid imbalances and meconium aspiration syndrome further complicate developmental outcomes, which impacts motor and neurosensorial capabilities. The study highlights the need for comprehensive multidisciplinary approaches to manage and mitigate the diverse effects of CP, aiming to improve the overall quality of life for affected individuals.
